Rise in News Stations Having Independent POV’s

It seems there is a war within politics and world view points in the media. The war continues each day, as news stations debate topics. These POV’s influence people and the way we think about life. Media controls a lot of the ways we think.

In this tweet and news story CNN is using its platform to fight against Republican laws. The company not only tweeted on their State of the Union account, but also retweeted it on their CNN account. This is CNNs point of view and it is using its broadcast and media to influence people across America.

In this tweet Fox is sharing about the issues on the southern border. An issue backed by Republicans and not Democrats. Fox is using their platform to influence viewers that there is an issue and Texas may feel the pain of it. It is Fox’s point of view. CNN may have bashed the governor or avoided the topic due to viewership.

Here’s a tweet from an individual journalist who tries to influence with his POV. He is trying to showcase what ABC said because he believes it to be the truth. Just like the FOX and CNN posts, the media is trying to influence the viewers to believe something. It is a back and fourth war, and we are 3 years away from an election year. These POVs are good for some people, but other people may dislike them.

Above are two YouTube videos and an Instagram link. The videos focus on the different news stations picking political sides to influence people. The second video is an example of the bias occurring after the election in 2016. The first video gives a timeline of when the war in the media started. It started during the 2016 election. These media platforms are trying to influence people on how the country is run. I have also attached a link to an Instagram post. It talks about narratives and not news. Media outlets are trying to push 1 narrative, instead of telling the full story. The media only tells you what they want you to hear. An example in politics would be giving out something free to the American people. What they don’t tell you is, your taxes will be paying for it. So they push the narrative for viewership and to influence.

This article is relevant to the Coronavirus. It examines the way American media spoke about the Coronavirus. America spoke negatively about the virus, yet the data proved things were going in the right direction. The article addresses the point of views from various media outlets. It was ultimately decided that the outlets only spoke negatively about the virus, because that’s what the people wanted. I think this is important because maybe the media is showing you something for money. The media’s money is controlling the way we act and think in society.

I think it is important when reviewing any news to look for point of views and bias. A point of view may influence a story and tell it in a way that supports what the author believes. The above examples showed the war in the media. It showed how different media platforms promote different ideas. Beware the POVs and the bias.
